My manager said that he was aware of a team member planning on moving to Amazon, even before the poor guy (apparently) shared his plans with my manager or someone else. Needless to mention, this came up with average reviews. This had me thinking, which all companies out there have an interview workflow where a random employee of the company can query for anyone to know if they have interviewed for a role, and the consequent feedback.
Can't make sense of your question/explanation. Reread.
I think OP is wondering how his coworker was busted for interviewing at Amazon before coworker told anyone at work, with a follow-up of “if I interviewed at your company, would my boss know? Is the boss finding out a typical thing?”
Thanks, this was my question.
Probably ex MS people at Amazon leaked this info, maybe trying to do a backdoor reference check. Very shitty from Amazon. Edit: to help avoid this, hide your connections on LinkedIn. Also consider not being connected to your manager as LinkedIn still shows common connections to non connected people which can expose you more than needed or safe.
No, it is not straightforward. This sounds like an isolated incident
Its not possible unless the manager knows one of the interviewers.
At google, recruiters ask googlers ( non interviewer) for feedback if the googler and the interviewee worked together.
How do they determine this fact? Working together might mean a lot of things - it could be as simple as coming from same school or have worked in the same company at some point of time. Both of which could generate large amounts of FAs
I once had a manager who took a day off for an on-site. He signed his name at security at that company, which was then seen by someone who used to work for him but now works at that new company. Needless to say, his interview was leaked out. The worst thing is, the manager didn’t get the job, so everyone knew he wasn’t good enough to leave. He took a lot of abuse after that.
I don’t get your question. Can you explain it with an example?
