I have a new boss who asked me to transition all that I do to another new guy. She said I would be given new roles after the transition. I did exactly that and the new guy is using most of the models I developed. On my one on one last week she said I should work myself out of this job. What does that mean? Does she want me to leave?
Sorry to hear, but I would not like to continue to work at such place and with such leadership. There are tons of opportunities out there, prepare and start interviewing. Good luck.
Sounds like managing out done wrong. Firing someone is something that most managers/companies will try to avoid, so suggesting someone that their situation os dire, and to better look for another job makes things easier for everyone (you are given time to look for a job and are not fired, manager doesn’t have to deal with the situation of walking someone out and company avoids legal issues). In your situation, I’d talk to her again and I’d ask how much time do I got to find a new place. Don’t fall into the trap of thinking you can still turn things around, the decission has already been made to let you go, sorry. Use your time wisely to find a new place.
Your next role will be head of Homeland Security
Machine Learning Engineer gig is enough
I do this at every job. I build systems that don't need to be maintained, and grow engineers around me so I'm no longer needed. And then I move on
So how many times have you moved on?
You’re screwed - either leave or you will be fired
Perhaps your work was good and they need to free you up for something better.
What were her exact words? Move out of this employment or this project?
Ask for a package
Time to find another job. Market is good outside.

Sounds like a passive-aggressive firing
What should I do and what should I say to her? My former boss was removed last month. He blocked my going to another job and another group twice.
J/k I’m missing some context and have no idea what you’re boss meant. Maybe she knows you want to leave and and is helping you along? Dunno
