Not my opinion but heard this recently. Is it true that college students don’t want to work for Facebook because of lower pay and FB being a sweatshop? I am interviewing for FB and am curious if this is true or just some cooked up rumor
Most college students I talk to have no interest in any large company. They want to do startups and have FAANG as their backup plan.
FAANG as "backup" lol.
"Most" college students will not pass FAANG interviews. If by "startups," they mean unicorns, then sure. But to me them saying "they want to do startups" translates into "I couldn't pass interviews at top-tier companies so I will say I want to do startups to make myself look cool."
This is true. Facebook's new-grad offer is not as competitive anymore. Interns who covert use to get $100k signing bonus to offset the low salary and stock, but Facebook has since reduced that to $75k. Meanwhile there are companies dishing out $130k+ salaries to new grads. Facebook's new grad salary starts at around $115k. Keep in mind though, these numbers aren't given to any new grad the knocks on the door. It's for the ones who are usually top of the class and/or have a lot of experience and did really well on their interviews.
Is this true? My Tesla base was 120+70k in stocks. Vest three years. Right out of college but was an Intern convert.
No singing bonus?
From where? San jose state university or ITU ? 😂😂
Plenty of Berkeley people I know went to FB. But also, why does it matter where college students want to work affect you?
Symptom of a bigger problem maybe? I am a college grad myself btw. Graduated last year and looking to make a move to FAANG
I’m friends with a guy on Facebook who used to talk hella shit about working at big companies and being all about the startup life. Then he got an offer at Facebook, saw the potential paycheck, and now won’t stop talking about how great FB is. College kids don’t know shit about what they want and seeing the TC will make anyone put aside their “morals”.
Tc is king man
Kids don't want to work until they realize they need to get paid.
College grads are all talk about start ups over FANG unless they get into FANG and reject it for a start up.
I doubt this is true. Many new grads I know rejected FANG offers to try their luck at a startup. Obviously not just any startup, but the ones they have a personal connection with. It's more fun and exciting, and I they don't really care about work-life-balance.
Low pay at fb? What are you smoking? There are only maybe 2 or 3 companies in the world that can even compete with fb offers!
Not really. New grad compensation is 115 base, 150k stocks, 10% bonus and 25k joining. Lot of companies are paying much more than this.
Sike. FinTech companies like Two Sigma, Jane Street, Citadel all pay really high. Software companies like Netflix pay more. There are more companies.
