I have a job offer from an e-commerce company in Berlin. The offer seems average at 57k Euro but I read that Berlin isn't very expensive. From my calculations, it seems that I would be saving much less than I'm saving now in India and of course there won't be the comfort of home. However, my current job and the company suck so much, that I really doubt if things could get any worse in Germany, even if benefits and Glassdoor ratings are much lower for the German company. Is it a good idea to switch? Will it be good for my career?
57k seems low even for Berlin (I am in munich though). Ecomm company sounds like Zalando, they definitely can pay more. TC and YoE in India?
Just curious how far they can go? I turned down their offer years ago. 12 yoa
Not sure tbh. But 57k sounds a bit "medicore" esp for Zalando.
Are you comparing with Bay Area or Seattle? Because I can save a lot more than 57K Euro a year with 4 YOE so this is definitely not worth it for me.
Yeah. Better to go to the US for an MS? 57k sounds way too low.
57k is bit low . Please do consider 42% tax also . I assume you have mentioned gross salary . I would say get this between 60-70k .
I asked for more but they just increased the relocation a bit. I hope to find some other opportunity or move on to something else if it becomes an issue. Do tell me if you can refer me. It's not easy and common to get such job offers while being located so far. Are you also in Berlin?
I used to be in Berlin. But I agree with you moving in first is a good idea . After working few years or Ben 1 year you can find a better opportunity I feel. Because is a tech house and it shouldn't be an issue finding a job once you have settled in

You can DM as I got an offer from Amazon Germany and we can discuss about the salary there and how about the culture
Why don't you do it here? I'm from Germany as well. (currently in Munich; thinking of moving to Berlin in a year)
