I am in a AWS team where I don’t see myself growing. There has been lot of attrition going on in my org. No clear path for promotion. Ops heavy work with no exciting project in future roadmap. On the other hand getting a big hike in TC at OCI. Talking to interviewers was really nice and I felt there is a good opportunity to work on something which is still building. Though they warned me about the big difference from AWS where tooling is at a different level. I hear a lot of negativity about OCI on blind. I am very confused whether I should take this opportunity as I am on Visa and do not want any uncertainty. I have a home and new born kid. Can not afford to lose job. Please give your honest opinion without ranting or sugarcoating anything
If you were single I would have recommended. But I think don’t move. My new grad friend was laid off !!
Honest & Short Opinion: Do NOT do it, you will regret it every day.
What oci?
Don’t do it
Why don’t you move to some other company ? Why oci off all ?
Do it.
Don’t do it. Not worth for your career. That’s what I feel after spending considerable time in OCI. There is no smoke without fire. All the negative sentiment you see on blind is due to unstable and really naive management. We’re struggling to hire people. That’s why we give out top offers to attract people. But in reality the person who’s accepting the offer is falling into a trap (and they don’t know it).
What do u mean by a trap ?
You’re at a good place. At least better than Oracle. If you want go to Azure.
Don’t understand the big deal with such questions. If you are a dev from Amazon then you will always be welcomed back. If you were PIP’d then clearly don’t have any reason to ask such question. If you are looking for WLB then OCI is the place to be. If you are afraid of layoffs then you should absolutely not worry since Amazon can literally PIP you the next day (look for churn rate every Monday in the internal tool to understand the magnitude of PIP). This is a legit question if you have an offer from any other tier 1 company.
Yes go for it
