Is my comp low ?

I see a lot of posts regarding compensation data from FANG companies. And looking at those numbers I have started feeling bad about my pay. So far I thought my total compensation was ok but not after seeing those posts.I am working as a senior MTS @VMware and I have 7 years of industrial experience and a masters in comp sci.The below are my numbers Base-165K (base increasing 5% each year) Annual Bonus - 17% each year.Last year I got 32k Stock - 50k annually based on current stock price and what has been vested already Totaling - 247K each year (excluding the sign on) When I joined I had been given 10k sign on.Are these low for my experience and title ?

no

Intel YfUr04 Dec 4, 2017

Yes it is low, base should be around 185k

Microsoft sfomsft Dec 4, 2017

Very low

Microsoft vRFI13 Dec 4, 2017

I think it is not considered low. But if you look around and interview with other companies, you can get 300k+

Microsoft bbFs29 Dec 4, 2017

This is not bad. Don't let a few outliers

Microsoft bbFs29 Dec 4, 2017

That's not too bad. Don't let free outliers here get you down. You can probably get increase by moving companies but that's a good base even for Bay area.

Not terrible for SDE2 at Amazon

What level does a software engineer with 7 years industrial exp and master in comp sci fit at in amazons engineering levels?

Amazon BigReqs Dec 4, 2017

Mid-high SDE2. It really depends on the scope of your current role.

Based on my current scope of tasks and my performance at the existing level I am looking at a prospective promotion to be a staff engineer coming review cycle which may increase my comp but not by a whole lot.

VMware eYBj58 Dec 4, 2017

Don't count on it. Promotion has nothing to do with raise. At least that's how vmw works.

That's definitely not low for Sr mts

Not everyone is same and we don't know everyone's profile when they put their TC on Blind... so just based on years of exp, you can't compare... On top of that, Blind's data are heavily skewed, so you shouldn't use that as a sample Instead of getting demotivated by seeing these numbers, use that energy to get quality exp if you are not currently... And finally, ur TC is not low, if that makes you feel better...
