I'm not any social media site except reddit and blind. I never created linkedIn but I keep getting emails from friends which invite me to join. Is it useful in order to get a job. I usually just get a referral from friends or apply online and it has been working fine but once a recruiter asked me to follow their company on linkedIn to check how they have good work life balance as they post there. I nodded and ended the discussion. I've seen many joke posts about LinkedIn where people post long unfunny jokes or questionable motivational quotes and pictures.
Create a LinkedIn. It’s useful to retain connections to people as you work with them. It’s more difficult to connect later. Sometimes it’s not appropriate to add them on other social media, or you don’t get their other contact details. You don’t have to really use it other than to fill out a profile (which can hide your last name), and connect with people. If you’re ever looking for a job, you’re in a much better position if recruiters are already contacting you. I personally find it really useful as a news source. Given enough connections and people to follow, you can get a really interesting feed of aggregated content.
I personally use it to stay in touch with former coworkers and bosses. There may be interesting opportunities down the road.
It's pretty much just FB. News articles are interesting, reading the shit posting between grown ass adults is very entertaining.
LinkedIn is a very bad dating site. Try eharmony.
