Is ok to omit a 1-2mth position on resume? Will background check pass?

If you only work a company for 1-2 mths then quickly move on to a better one, can you just leave that out on your resume and say you took a long vacation? I'm asking from the perspective of background checks like if the new employer will find out, and is it considered a lying offense that would get your offer rescinded?

I don’t see any problem here.

It's lying on the resume? Cause you omitted that 1-2mth job?

It's not lying. And in my experience many background checks have a segregated process from the company's normal recruiting process. Every time I've ever done a background check I've had to resubmit all the information for the background checking firm, and all they've ever looked at are the details I volunteered (according to the reports they legally have to give me). If you're asked about something, be forthright and honest in your response. But there's nothing dishonest in choosing what you volunteer about yourself.

Leave it off the resume but answer truthfully if they ask

Probably don’t need it on your resume. But you better not leave it out on your application so it doesn’t disagree with your background check.

Perhaps you should read my post again... ADP employment records will have your history. Why would you hide this on your application? Don’t think they won’t check. Resumes don’t need to capture everything. People don’t read the whole thing.

Because if you’re like me and have a long work history, a 1-2 month blip just takes up room on the resume, which we must keep concise. Hence a resume shouldn’t capture everything. Work application should.

Yes

An application is no more a contract than a resume. If you submit something misleading, they can terminate your employment for it. If you were only there for 1-2 months and left for a better opportunity, I don’t see what the need for secrecy is.

The background check may require an application that specifically asks you to list employers from past X years, rather than use your resume. You’d be clearly lying by not listing.

Leave it off but don’t lie about vacation. If they ever catch that lie you are out

Resume is a highlight reel not an exhaustive list of everything you’ve ever done. Leave it off if it didn’t matter, but definitely don’t lie about it.

Apple Icml2017 Oct 31, 2018

I guess you can leave that month empty in your resume. I think, For background check they will only check for the employers you worked, duration of employment (start, end date) and perhaps job title. If you have one month gap in employment, most likely they won’t be looking into that at all.

No background check can ever verify this unless it’s three letter agency or something

Apple Icml2017 Oct 31, 2018

Right, so if something is not mentioned in background check and it’s 1-2 month gap between two jobs, they will in all probability ignore it. They will focus and verify the information provided.

Don't put it on resume or application. Most companies outsource the background check to hire right or someone like them. They verify what you provide them. Don't provide them the 1-2 month job and they won't check it. If they ask then tell them but near 100% chance they won't ask they are lazy and outsourced overseas workers.

Apple Icml2017 Oct 31, 2018

This seems true. A related example might be, they ask for educational qualifications/degrees during your background check. If you have a degree totally unrelated to your job and haven’t mentioned it in your resume, no one will ask about that.

Yes. I have a degree in a completely unrelated field that has nothing to do with tech. I didn't even list I went to any school. Left entire education section blank and passed last background check easily with hire right.
