The French decided to tax fossil fuel for a greater cause and the riots erupted. I think it's the Orangutan and his Saudi&Texas oil backers are behind the riots.
Oh look, one of those CNN watching NPC conspiracy theorists.
1. Consumption taxes like the one on gasoline are generally regressive and hurts low wage earners more 2. This isn't just about the gas tax, more of the straw that broke the camel's back
This is about gas tax like 1776 was about tea tax.
No. People are protesting because the cost of living is high and Macron just did US-style tax reform to push costs off the rich and onto the population. People should take note and do something similar in the US to oppose Trump.
America is divided on racial lines. If poor protest then most of them will be black white people will happily pay tax and poor (black) people be slaughtered by the police.
Most of the poor are white, non-whites are just poor at a higher rate due to structural racism - such as redlining, job restrictions, and/or over-policing. But, yes, race is a dividing line - and if we ever managed to build cross-racial movements, then the poor can become much stronger politically.
Nah. Frenchies are a sensitive lot if you increase the price of their baguette or hint at non subsidized anything
That’s not the reason behind the protests. It’s not about being anti-renewables 🤦♀️🤦♂️
