Read this article and all the times this person gets reimbursed for meals. Either this person is way high up in food chain or they are abusing the employer policies. Seems like working long hours and getting reimbursed for meals. Techies work way less and get free food and get paid more at that age. What's your problem?
You're forgetting age-ism and the abrupt end most tech careers have. Otherwise, (right now), yeah it's better to be in tech.
What ageism? The principal engineers in 50s and 60s in my team are paid exponentially more than the new grads.
Very normal for her field and nyc. Dated a nyc lawyer and she made spent and got almost exact same perks.
Dang what do you do, if I may ask... Are you, like, Steph Curry...
What caught my eye was that the solo lunches were self purchased but any lunch with co-workers or even friends was reimbursed. That’s what got me wondering!
That’s the only part that seemed odd to me but I dunno. Lunch with a friend on Saturday seems like something you can’t just bill to your company but apparently she can/does.
They were considered business lunches and they are tax deductible for businesses. It makes sense for the businesses to reimburse.
If her take home after taxes is $7000 biweekly on $240k then she's taking too many exemptions, and she's going to owe a lot in April.
She is talking about her paychecks now which don’t have 401k deductions or social security tax since she hit both caps for the year. It’s also semi monthly so 7k/10k. 30% withheld for taxes. Might not be that far off her effective tax rate. Might also include reimbursements too based on how much she claims that I dunno.
Normal for nyc
My two observations : - not a very healthy diet - they probably had sex on day 6
I don’t think her firm’s perks cover lunches and dinners with friends. What she’s doing is unethical
For those of you who have never owned a business: The IRS guidelines on what is deductible is generous. The lunch does not have to primarily be about business but business *has* to be discussed. The nature of this can even be prospective. There is no limit to what is reasonable. If you are willing to keep records (in case of audit) you can have *every* meal with people reimbursed as long as business *is* discussed. The deduction is also only 50% against business income so keep that in mind. Solo meals don’t get reimbursed unless you are travelling on business. You can’t really discuss business with yourself. Everything in this article checks out.
I want to know where she got a salmon lunch veggies and a side for $8
This is common in law firms and certain divisions like investment banking in banks
