Correct. They will not negotiate without a competing offer.
That's true
Yes. However, if you unequivocally turn down the offer they "might" come back with a better offer. Until then, if this is your best offer, they expect you to take it because what else are you gonna do?
Also, they define who a competitor is.
Wait? Real talk ?!
Lol max, I did say something along the lines of MTV and Austin that is referred in the email. And Google did listen. However, the catch is that there was only a verbal discussion after which I sent an email requesting a certain sum. Recruiter informed me that the sum being offered was lower, but she would speak to the compensation people to bring it up to what I wanted. FYI, my demand was 7k more than a Google Swe's salary at that level for worldwide. For MTV, it was 2k less. So you can say I lowballed myself. But I got exactly what I wanted.
Depends on how much they need you.
Does it make a difference if it’s SWE vs SRE?
Not true in my case. They did negotiate without other offers
Wow that email is so aggressive
Is this from a recruiter’s email? So cringe.
I have seen this text from another post on Blind or Quora, can't remember. Definitely not a private exchange since I've read it before
