It is hilarious to see people having “, MS” after their names on Linkedin

The bar for master’s prgroam is too low nowadays, even lower than undegraduate programs. I have a PHD an two master’s from a prestigious school, and I don’t even want to brag about it. In the end, we are just some monkeys working for fking billionaires. It is just so hilarious to see people having “, MS” after their names, I would never hire morons like this

Whats wrong in showing your *hard earned degree* after the name?

I'd say the hiring bar for Amazon is too low these days

Amazon is better than Symantec. But as a tolerant individual, I am better than you

Hahaha..Symantec’s engineer is telling that Amazon’s hiring bar is low! 🤣🤣🤣 At least, we have some bar and we are still hiring!

If you tried going through the Amazon hiring process, you wouldn't say that. It's grueling - psychologically/emotionally, intellectually, and logistically.

Not really having interviewed recently and choosing an another offer over Amazon. Too much emphasis on LPs and examples around that. Absolutely hated the way interviewers were focusing so much on typing stuff in their laptops rather than doing **Active Listening**

You haven't paid attention to these people putting Stanford University in their education section while in reality it is just a couple of months executive program, MBA and BS from University of Phonix, Devry University. LinkedIn profile is a joke.

In China, ms is not so easy. It is usually 3 years and you have to do research, write thesis and do dissertation.

Not talking about China. In US, master is basically an extension of undergraduate study. You can get the degree without doing any research

The accomplishment can still something to be proud of. Difficulty or prestige do not matter and are largely subjective anyway. However, usually academic or professional suffixes are reserved for terminal degrees (e.g., PhD or MFA) or legally-required licenses in your field (CPA, PE). Some folks even use “BS” as a suffix lol. The joke makes itself.

Furthermore, even when suffixes to indicate terminal degree or licensing are included, it is mostly on business cards or professional bios in conferences or publications.

On LinkedIn, just use the name that people normally call you 🙄 Your profile can show what education and or licenses you have completed.

Oh, and please don’t clutter with everything you have done, like “Joe Doe, BSCS, MS, MBA, PMP.” Ugh 😑

I work with someone who has an MS in information security, and is functionally illiterate.

😂😂😂i love all the smart snark on blind. i take great comfort here. thanks. i once worked for a manager who is mean AF, misogynist, AND functionally illiterate. seriously. there were so many sentences and sentence fragments that i'd have to read over and over... thinking about all the potential homophones or erroneous/potentially missing punctuation to arrive at what he might be trying to say. leadership at Boeing is very analogous to the "cool kids" in highschool.... lots of bravado and politicking/social sabotage; not a lot of intellectual substance or moral character. super sad.

It is such a shame that people put some random Harvard and Stanford short term certificates on their LinkedIn and made people think they have some proper education from these schools. Don't they know regular decent people pity them?

I ignore all that shit except if it is a junior dev then I look at what school they are from. I’ve had a lot of good success with some. Otherwise that stuff is noise. I’m more interested in data showing what they actually did and their problem solving ability.
