So I have two bosses at this media agency. The first boss is an absolute genius, and is fair and helps you learn and grow. His wife however, who helps him run the company, is legitimately a terrible human being. She has a massive God complex, and believes she's a "spiritual guru". She uses the "moral buster" approach and tells us all the time how we are doing a bad job and need to do a better, and for the most part you just let her have her moment and then she walks away. Now however, she's taken a girl under her wing who clearly is the weak link in our office, strictly due to the fact that this girl licks the ground that she walks on, and is giving her a role of "supervisor" among the rest of us, and it's killed all drive for the rest of the employees. This entire office is toxic because her at this point, and you can tell everyone is looking for an out, but I've only been working here for 4 months. Is it wise to leave the company so soon, or will it reflect badly on my job prospects?
Yeah you need to leave, I have been in a similar situation before and I was the first one to leave. Few months down the road I learned that everyone else who was on my team also left the company, so I definitely made the right decision. As far as the number of months, don't worry about it, just find a new job and if they ask you why do you want to leave your current job just be honest and say it is not a good fit. I think if the duration of work is short like in your case, it reflects more badly on the company and not you, because you can hardly judge someone within 4 months, especially if the company is big.
My cents. It's not possible, atleast at the initial stage of career, to find a team which has a better manager. It's more luck. So no guarantee you are not gonna end up in a similar or worse situation. Better try to work on the same team as long as you like the project and you are being treated fairly in TC. Move over in a year or two. If it's not bearable then, IMHO, you wouldn't have asked for suggestions.
A year or two? Op can be mentally ill in that time. Sticking around for the sake of cv is a bad advice. I would advice move internally first and if this is not working then move externally.
Leave and don't put the company on your resume. Leave now so that the gap is not too conspicuous - if asked you can say that you took time to travel or something
Isnโt this a repost...
