Does J.P. have a salary range tool for each position, as per geography? I’m trying to figure out the salary range for marketing VP positions (@8-10 yrs experience)

  • I think the salary range is anywhere from $0 to $2MM... Give or take.

A friend just told me $100K-125K, but that seems low considering Amex’s standard ceiling is $129K and I heard J.P. pays better. Glassdoor lists $136K as the avg. We have an actual pay range tool at Amex. I assumed most competitors had this too, but guess I was wrong.

    • My ignorance might be showing here, but I see AMEX as one business whereas JPMC is a multitude of businesses and brands all with different budgets, grades, definitions, expectations, etc.

You’re right. It varies by team and COL at Amex too. I’m in NYC which is expensive. Marketing is the category I’m looking into.

How many years of experience do you have at $99K base pay? I’m under that and I’m experienced (8-10 yrs). They initially hired me as an analyst but I didn’t know it was entry level because it wasn’t at previous jobs. Most marketing managers I’m friends with at Amex are hitting 6 figures as a base, especially as a senior manager (VP level at JPMG).

    • YOE doing what I currently do is ~4 years of true experience (tools and processes). I've been in the financial industry for ~7 years mostly in the analyst type position.

I’ve never seen a salary range tool at JPMC, even as a hiring manager. From what I understand, VPs start at 118k base and then it progresses from there based on seniority within the VP bands. Pay isn’t very transparent at JPMC though, so I could be off-track with this.

    • Is that $118k including bonus or just salary? My salary is like $99,999 plus bonus which was $15k this last year. I feel I'm underpaid for what I do, so I'm always interested in understanding what the "range" is.

Ah ok. Thanks. I am shooting for $135K-$145K...so just wanted to ensure I’m not way off the mark. I’ll ask the recruiter anyway what the range is. Hopefully they’ll answer.

The $118k is just salary — though I should have specified that I’m in NYC so that number might not be the same in lower COL areas.

This app really makes me wish there was more transparency in the firm.

VP salary ranges also differ wildly between job families and LOB - e.g. project execution in CCB caps out around ~130 base in a low CoL area, whereas engineering VP in AWM could be up to 160 in the same CoL

    • Even in the hierarchy, it all depends. In my last role, I was literally 5 people below Jamie Dimon but I had no directs (independent contributor) so my value was only so much.

It depends on the role/department, the company, and how desperate they are to fill the role/what you negotiate. This is why I am asking specific to marketing and J.P.
