This is highly disturbing. This Saudi born journalist working for the Washington Post was pretty obviously murdered and dismembered within 10 minutes of entering the Saudi consulate in Istanbul for what was supposed to be an appointment regarding his marriage while his fiancé waited outside. 15 Saudi dudes whom have most been identified as members of the royal Saudi prince security team entered the building earlier and left within 2 hours after the dudes death after his body was dismembered and removed from the premises. One of whom had a bone saw. Another was a well known anatomist, specializing in autopsies. Trump is playing the Kavanaugh card that everyone is innocent until proven guilty (this ain’t a US court) and claims the king and crown prince have no idea and it was a “rogue killing” even though it was his (the crown prince) own henchmen in the room...uh huh...sure. This isn’t how we should be responding whatsoever. https://www.nytimes.com/2018/10/17/world/europe/turkey-saudi-khashoggi-dismember.html
How should we respond that would have an impact?
Follow the rest of the world by viciously condemning Saudi Arabia’s absurd tract record on human rights for starters. Follow up with terminating all ARMs deals with the regime. Put economic pressure on the regime like we did with the apartheid regime until conditions improve. This is straight up all about right and wrong and good and evil. And we’re faltering pretty badly.
It’s possible that would work. Of course, the other power in that area of the world has funded and enabled the murder of 500,000 and displacement of six million Syrians, Including gassing dozens of women and children. I’m all ears for best solutions, but there are times when there are no good options.
What's anybody going to do? The US invades countries for oil. 1 death to keep the oil market stable is nothing. Y'all idiots if you think 'freedom' means anything
Smh... sadly how is this any different from what Saudi has done in the past. They get away with it all untouched. Let’s not forget most of the 9/11 perpetrators were Saudis. I think all US presidents bow before the Saudis. We don’t want to piss them off.
This is what I don’t understand..... bc of sand money? That sounds racist, but all jokes aside, because of oil money? How did they get so powerful in our political system (rhetorical, but not a rhetorical question)....
‘Cos Iran has declared the US the devil.
Yeah let’s be honest Saudi Arabia has led to more terrorism than any other country in the world. 9/11 all saudis. Even Iran has a semblance of democracy while SA is a medieval theocracy in modern day
Sure. And Russia also has a semblance of democracy. In reality, neither Iran or Russia is anything different than the Saudi theocracy.
‘Cos midterms are in 2 weeks
It is really surprising that Americans find this disturbing and against ‘American values’. The US has always sided with its allies and justified all horrible acts throughout history. The US itself killed thousands and thousands on no moral grounds, and now suddenly Americans are ‘shocked’ over America’s position of this single innocent person. The US itself had targeted Al-Jazeera offices in Baghdad and killed journalists I am really shocked that you are shocked 😳
The people claiming the only options here are ignoring it or having a war are morons. There are a range of options from publicly denouncing it, to lending resources to the investigation, to imposing sanctions on a few individuals, to imposing sanctions on the country, to an outright embargo. You could usefully debate which of those responses is proportionate without having a war. Trump instead is publicly looking for excuses to let the Saudis off the hook.
More to this- not only all of the above, but actually following through is more important. Look at the Kavanaugh FBI “investigation” if you wonder what I’m referring to.
All past presidents have looked the other way when it comes to the Saudis. All.

28 terrorist worshipping idiots just got themselves fired and I've never been prouder to work at Google.
Sadly, there are a lot of things about this administration that isn’t right.... sadly, reading your comments just makes me sad about where we’re going as a country. It has to get better somewhere/ some how. What’s worse is that Don McGahns last day was today.... he wanted Kavanaugh in, and then he’s out. This administration is the worst.
