How does the pay here compare to FB/G? Also wlb? edit: referring to SWE postions.
Tier above FANG.
if itās just generic SWE roles, theyāre p much the same especially given (lack of) WLB. quants on the other hand are def a tier above
Swe is about the same. Quant can break 7 figures regardless of experience if you perform.
Quant new grad can get 300k Swe new grad Iāve seen lower than google new grad.. sad!
Base is always greater in trading firms than in tech companies, even for sde roles. But tech companies have stock, while this type of āunpredictable compensationā is annual bonus in those trading firms. The value of the annual bonus in trading firms will be similar to the sum of vested stock plus performance bonus in tech firms. The tricky part is that the annual bonus can vary a lot - increase if firm is making good profit and decrease if firm is not making enough. If the firm is doing extremely well, the annual bonus can possibly be even higher than your base salary, but it is rare for sde roles. I have an offer from a trading firm and some of my friends are working in that industry. Based on what I have observed, for 2sigma or Jane street or other trading firms, they basically pay the same as tech companies in TC; but Citadel is sort of the only exceptional one - besides having huge TC, it pays a super large amount of base salary that can go beyond a normal sdeās imagination, so it beats all other companies and becomes "tier -1". Sde is inferior to quant in those firms, so quant will always get the best perk. But on the other side, quant bears the heaviest workload and sde can be relatively less stressed. As for life work balance, I used to be an Amazonian geared with pager all the time, so at least for me that is not even a problem. I guess it can be worse than Google though.
this is helpful thanks. mind sharing some specific numbers? and are the interviews similar?
Iāve gotten 250k base and 250k annual bonus and 150k signon at citadel. Easy interview on infra stuff. Didnāt join as my startup has still a better outcome (current illiquid comp is ~650k, with base of 240)
Quant Jane Street year 1 bonus - 900K. Princeton fresh grad. True story.
They will most probably beat offers from all the top tech companies
any exact numbers? L3/4/5/6 etc equivalents.
I know comp for a new grad is around 150/50/25/performance bonus for 2s
