Job at Google brain
I really want to independently start learning machine learning and with a few years of hardwork would like to join a team doing high level research in ML. I also live in Toronto. How do people normally get into Google brain? Is it very competitive even for people with a phD at the right schools?

You would have to have publications. Very hard to do if you're self tought and not working on the subject as part of your job

Machine learning sucks, it’s just labeling data and using libraries. There are much easier and more fun ways to get high total comp
It is very competitive.
