Just calling one API after the other, it seems like I'm not learning anything worthwhile except their tech stack. What do I do if I want something more fulfilling, challenging and where I actually learn something good.
Consider changing the layer at which you contribute. For instance, if you are a backend developer, try front end development. Or jump into something completely different like mobile, networking, kernel development, machine learning, AI etc.
Is it that simple? I've wondered about this myself at my current job? Do I go to the manager of a different team and be like "hello potential new boss, I'm tired of calling apis day in and out. I'm interested in your big Data project. I understand you're looking for someone with prior experience and I have none. But I'll make up for it with genuine passion. I need this change for my career growth so please take a chance on me"?
It also depends on the new manager if they want to give you a chance so make sure to reach out to more than one.
