Job at linkedin and amazon

Interviewed for senior software engineer at linkedin and was offered software engineer role since the design interview was not up to the mark. They have said they will monitor my progress for 6-8 months and if all goes well bump me up to senior software engineer. Also, I have got through Amazon as well for SE2 position. Any suggestions on what should be the best to take up right now?

    LinkedIn is an amazing company but now they are wholly owned by Microsoft. I would choose Amazon just because of that

    I went through the same exact debate when I got a SE offer (ML ish team) at LI and SDE2 offer (Video backend team) at Amazon. I was set on LI at first due to the people, culture and pay. However Amazon matched my LI offer and the work seemed more interesting. Also Amazon offer was for the LA office so my pay goes a lot further. I don't have any regrets so far - opportunities for growth at Amazon are unlimited and if you aren't happy with your initial team you can always move within the diverse set of orgs. Might be a diff story if both offers were in the same city.

    any promises for the future need to written or else it should be assumed false. Manager promised you but his manager maybe didn't and he can't do anything in 6 months. walk in with that in mind or ask for it in your offer letter

    LinkedIn all the way! it has better culture and work life balance, best suited for long term! Amazon is a. harsh place to live in.

    Go with Amazon. LinkedIn is okay but choose the better position. Basically Amazon is giving you a 6-8 month headstart over LinkedIn and above that stock prices.

    I'm assuming LI offer even at entry level se is a bit higher than sde 2 at Amazon? If true, go where the money is, unless Amazon matches.

    both have good long term prospects. suggest going with the company you feel you had better employee/ hiring manager chemistry. all things being equal of course.
