Hey guys just want to know when is an adequate time to stay in my first entry swe job to transit to my next second job? It's been 9 months for my first job and my pay is so low I'm just really sigh... 50k in Philly area. I'm on opt visa and it's getting harder to get another job. Should I just stay till my time is up and move back my own country or really hustle and try my last year of H1 petition next year?
Stay as little or as long as you need. If it only takes you seven days at your first for you to find a better second job, then only stay seven days.
Average job tenure in USA is 2-3 years. So I always look for a major change internal or external within 3 years.
What do you mean “underpaid by Desi”?
I hope you feel me. Not mocking me but it's what's happening. I know my rate is around ~125/hr and I'm getting 25/hr. 2 vendors in between.
And you think that’s because the vendors are Indian and you are not? Btw your “rate” is almost certainly not $125/hr. Without vacation days and benefits thats 125*40*52=260k/year. Comcast would be foolish to spend that much even on a full time employee, 9 months into their first job, who had to find a job thru a body shop.

Generally a year or two, but if you find a much higher paying job, you should take it.
