I worked in Azure and saw one or two people let go every year for underperforming. Microsoft also PIPs employees if they're underperforming. I hear Amazon and Facebook pip a lot more. So in the realistic sense, there isn't anything called job security. If you're performing well, you should have your job without any issues Hth
There is no such thing as job security, even if you perform well, you may get laid off. Microsoft has gone through several layoffs in recent history. I think azure org should be fine, but most of the other orgs are at risk..
Why are we even talking about layoffs here in this hot market when everyone is hiring like crazy. Any news of layoffs in MS ?
MS laid off tons of sales last year
Their new CEO (no so new) has been cutting fat every year since 2014.
Been resting and vesting here for close to 20 years, not a cloud on the horizon. Don’t be utterly stupid and you are good for life. The bar is rather low too, so beating the middle of the pack is on the easy side. 🍆
Not at the lower levels though.
It depends on your manager at Microsoft. When I worked there they let go each year. They fired really good folks. If you can talk and BS a lot you can survive at MSFt.
There is no such thing as job security anymore. Everyone is replaceable. Just do the best you can to deliver business value and never stop learning.
