What job titles to look for someone (my wife) with a doctorate in Industrial Engineering ? I know of Operations Research scientist, what else ?
There should be plenty of opportunities at Western Digital, Sandisk, Tesla, and other companies in the area that do manufacturing, supply chain, and operations work. Facebook and Google should have internships or early career opportunities. They have supply chain and operations work.
Thanks!

Such a trash you are
U mad bro?
Industrial Engineering is such a wide field. What’s her area of expertise?
Not that many unless you tell me what her thesis was on and school she went to.
Her thesis work is on demand management and cost optimization and her area of expertise is supply chain management and operation management
SAP Research Llamasoft Ops Consulting with MBB There are also plenty of niche companies that targets specific schools and skillsets like Analytics Operations Engineering. Also again those are topics, you would use some tools and methods to achieve that. As you said Amazon do have some AS positions but it depends on what tools she used. The thesis can be as simple as MILP as much as game theory and Neural Nets. So that is there.
Thank you.
Product companies will have Quality dept. Many opportunities there as well such as process Engineer, Supplier Quality Engineering, etc...
Thank you!
Data Science
I have a similar profile as your wife, although I graduated a while ago. I grew my career in product management, all in software companies. My first job out of school was in a company building software in the domain that my graduate thesis was on. But over time, my career progressed through generic product management roles. So the specifics of my graduate degree became much less important. However I did find that my graduate work helps me communicate easily with data scientists / machine learning engineers on the occasions that I need to engage them. And it helps from time to time in specific customer conversations. This maybe wasn't as specific an answer that you may be looking for. But I hope it helps. I think that your wife will find that the skills she picked up in graduate school apply to a much broader set of jobs than she might be imagining just now.

Are we ready to buy our forever home?
What’s your current position at Amazon? Seems like a great fit.
I am an SDE. There are many Research scientist roles at Amazon but my wife is scared that she might fail at meeting the high expectations of Amazon since she is fresh out of University and we also have toddler to take care of. She is looking for something less demanding to start off.
Thats BS. Amazon science bar is not that high unfortunately, and it would be a great learning opportunity. I encourage her to apply. (AS here)
