I'm excited to join FB Seattle in a month. Please recommend orgs/teams with good WLB. Any tips for making the most of boot camp? I'm joining as a generalist backend engineer. I work in AWS as tech lead. Currently building ML infrastructure, have experience in building scalable distributed systems. Fb offer: Level - E6 TC: 225k/900k/75k YoE: 10 TC: 360k
E6 has no life at fb. Has a lot of expectations
E6 at fb sea here. Great WLB, don't worry, plenty of great teams around. Your mentor will help with it, don't stress out early :)
E6 in BA. Lots of stress. Working on Sunday today. Welcome to FB ;)
Seattle is filled with ex micro and xooglers so good wlb as others mentioned
E6 as well, welcome to the company! WLB is very tricky. Unless you are some sort of genius, I canât imagine someone been a successful E6 working only 9 to 5. That been said, is not that bad. I usually work 40-50h per week, but a few times I need to ramp up to 60h. My strategy is to only do that when ACTUALLY matters, and avoid doing it very often.
How much time do you spend coding vs doing something else? (Meetings, design docs, researching state of the art, ...) thanks
Finally some useful tips đ. I'm totally fine with occasional 60hrs, that's not new to Amazonians, but my hope is it doesn't become a norm
Are you an L6 at amazon?
Yes, been in the role for 2 years
Your first task at FB as an e6: "Clean up the mess we created".
"good WLB" lmaoooooo
You are scaring me :(
Donât worry, in Seattle itâs the best, thanks to ex-MS folks
