Joining Facebook as M1

(TC at the end)
First, thank you blind. I discovered it only few weeks ago while getting an offer.
For those of you who got rejected- keep trying! I applied to Google and Facebook twice and failed.
I finally made it.

Anyways I got accepted by both Google and Facebook for M1/L6 position and felt so happy that my hard work and long process finally paid off.

I've found Google's process very slow and "heavy". My experience was much better with Facebook - got an offer really fast, recruiters were amazing so as the people I met with.
Facebook, Instagram and WhatsApp are the apps I use the most, the "move fast" really speaks to me (I'm a startup guy) and I found a better team at FB so buttom line I've decided to decline Google (feels good to say it after getting rejected before) and go with Facebook.

While negotiating I found on blind that FB can pay up to 100k sign-on so was able to bump my sign-on to that. So thanks blind for giving me extra $50k :)
Btw, Google matched my FB offer.

TC at Facebook M1: $514k
$220k base, $1M RSU, 20% bonus, $100k signon

Thanks blind 🙏

That’s way too low for E6/M1. People are getting 600k+ TC for that level!

Jk jk lol. Well done! Great offer. Congrats🎊🎊

That’s great congrats on the great offer , can you please talk a little about the interview for the m1 role , will help a lot thanks . How were the design questions , architecture ? Management questions ?

      OP
Coding was leetcode hard, a lot of behavior questions, management was mostly about your experience and approaching to things. Architecture was hard, 2 different sessions but by far my favorite as it really shows how much knowledge you got over the years vs coding that can be hit or miss

That’s really helpful , I am assuming the design questions go at depth from data storage , distributed computing to ML , UI solutions if needed is that a fair understanding ? Any recommendations apart from the hands on in building these complex architectures up ? Also how many rounds did you have leetcode hard ?

The reason I love design sessions for expirianced engineers is that interviewer can dig deeper based on what you claim you know. Expert in distributed systems? Let's dig deeper, expert on networking? Lets talk about it. Know client side optimization? Explain how you improve the loading time etc... I don't know what you will be asked but it's likely based on you reume. Management were really typical questions at first, then you steer the conversation to your history and what you learned. There is no right or wrong, just to check if you fit FB/Google style of management

Why would you leak interview questions? You signed the NDA. You could lose your offer.

So like $20K more in salary - which isn't as big, but its the RSU difference! ...$250K vs. $1million...eeks! This difference happens on refreshers too.

Totally confused by the manager v iC designation at Facebook. At amazon a principal and a Sr manager are comped similarly from what I can tell and on the same band level. Is there a significant difference between IC and managerial roles at Facebook such that it would be a mistake to come in not in a managerial role for someone with many years of experience?
    Jun 162
    • Facebook / Mktg77gago
An M1 and an IC6 are the same at Facebook. An M2 and and IC7 are the same too. Depending if you choose an IC track or M track. You can technically manage people at IC5 or lower, but those are called Lead roles (and I guess M0). But you can’t attend manager type headcount meetings until M1/IC6 at least

    - How many people do you manage now ?
    - What is your present TC / TC+Equity ?
