Hi guys,

Does anyone have experience joining Facebook on the H1B transfer receipt?
Good idea? Bad idea?

Aware of any RFEs or rejections at Facebook?

P.S. Joining as a Data Engineer at Facebook

You'll probably push some sample code in some lab. Bootcamp is so chill, you basically get payed to do nothing for 5 weeks and just hang around on campus.

Careful, if you mess up in bootcamp, they might give you the boot on week 2

99% approval rate. Even if you end up in the 1%, FB doesn't leave you hanging. They'll make arrangements so that you aren't inconvenienced.

Not a good idea at this time... Wait a little. I know some friends who are struck with transfer and can't leave the country for like 6-8 months.

Further, fb isn't worth taking a risk, because fb did not hire u, they hired "one unit of data engineer"

Your comments make me feel that DEs are not respected in FB. Is that the case?

I don't mean to say that. But think about it... Facebook has like 20k engineers (inc data). They will do their best vs a medium startup would go out of the way and make sure that ur visa status does not get screwed up/backup office location plan.

Donraj , that's not true at all. FB would have time to wait more than a startup would.

Yea, thats why you should not join on receipt

You would have to do something truly awful to be let go in bootcamp. Demand from hiring teams far outstrips the supply of bootcampers

  • I think fb is fine. One of my friends did exactly this. If you look at the h1b stats you’ll find FB has the most successful rate in big tech companies
