Joining Georgia Tech. Good places to stay

1. I’m going for Masters and considering midtown - square on the 5th, university house, and campus accommodation. Are these safe enough areas? 2. I got mixed feedback regarding midtown. Is midtown a safe place to stay?

The grad dorms on campus are very nice, north ave is ok too. The off campus apartments are significantly nicer. Avoid living to the west side off campus, even around Marietta street. It’s ok to visit in the day, but the apartments get targeted occasionally. Midtown isn’t bad, but areas downtown and around Georgia State are the places to avoid. Also, the area immediately around the north ave MARTA station are not great to walk around aimlessly and around Ponce De Leon Avenue are not good places to live. Home Park has been getting more expensive and more targeted in recent years. I can’t really recommend it, but if you are close to 10th street, you will be better off. Just don’t live around the edges of Home Park especially the west and north side (Hampton Street). Living around Piedmont Park is a true joy, especially around Juniper street for the local gentrified/hipster businesses (although a very homosexual area if you are strongly stigmatized)

Just to definitively answer, Midtown is a fine place to live. It’s an area of money, nice buildings, restaurants, and large corporate offices.
