I'm interviewing with Uber and I'm curious as to folks opinion on joining now. It's not in their ride share business. Is now a good time to get in with stock prices low or does the company still have a ways to fall? Odds of joining and getting laid off?
You are interviewing or have an offer? Either way... Avoid.
It’s a fine place to learn a lot and likely make $$$ if you believe the stock has bottomed out. Big negative is culture with lots of cynical self deprecating people, though mostly on blind :)
How is the place for Product? Any good areas within the company for Product?
There is a reason why so many people are cynical and the attrition is high. It's not without a cause the way things are
Only if you're joining as a driver. But even then, not so hot.
I’d avoid. If you’re looking for money fine than it’s worth your time - otherwise it’s extremely hard to stand out at a place like Uber or any of the other big Tech companies. With my experience as a recruiter, I see high impact roles being in the trading firms and hedge funds and that’s where you can really make a lot of money and stand out from the crowd.
How is market place org? Recruiter reached out for a SWE position ..
Toxic AF
Join now when people are in fear and stock is low
Depends on the offer and the team. A strong offer on a growing team might be worth the risk
How’s Uber Financial Products team?
Sorry I don’t know, make a post and tag uber - someone will have that information
How about Uber Freight?
Freight is a growing team with a reasonable path to profitability. It is a good choice
Avoid if you can
