I got an offer from a series A well-funded startup in Seattle which currently has a couple of dozen employees. I am going to be the first H1B employee. The company seems good and I am sure I will enjoy working there. However, is it advisable to join a startup on H1B? Has anyone heard of transfer rejection or RFEs? They will file for my H1B transfer via premium processing. The new role is Senior Software Engineer and I am currently an L5 SDE at Amazon. I am not interested in I-140 at the moment, so thats not a concern.
Don't give your notice in Amazon until h1b is approved in this startup. Also, you might have time to do the i-140 part, but advise you to do it asap. If the startup doesn't do well for some reason, and you get laid off, other companies won't hesitate to hire you if perm has been approved.
Joining a startup on H1B... Oh man. Good luck!
