Jump ship or do my time ?

Just turned 5 months at my new role in a new company(not redhat). My people manager doesnt get involved in my day to day work and has only spoken with me twice since i joined. i was told to work with a guy from another team without any guidence. So i work on my own and not getting any feeeback. It turned out there are two teams trying to grab the same clients business in a very political situation. So i am debating whether i should start looking now or wait for atleast one year to look good in the resume. one of the team is kind a forcing me to join them and i do not like the work as it involves lot of travel, the same reason i left previous company. My recent job history is job1 -9 years, job2-6months, job3-2 years. TC200k/yoe 18years devops/cloud infra

Are you happy with your job duties? Everything else is secondary. Relation with your manager, team members can change based on the feedback you provide them. The political situation you mention has the potential to become toxic. Don't care about the time you spend at a company. Jump if you are not happy.

Thanks , I earn little bit more and not traveling every week now, so happy about that. But I feel I am been thrown around set for failure. So concerned eventually they may even consider letting me go if I don’t join this other group.

Schedule a 1:1 with your manager. Share your observations about two teams competing for a single project. Maybe it's just some misunderstanding on your end considering you are so new to the team. If you don't get clear answers from your manager then definitely jump.

I’d move on, you should be in a fine position to explain why the current role isn’t working out. Just know that it will be tougher to explain a subsequent short stint so you’ll need to be discerning in your next choice and make sure it’ll be for an appreciable about of time

Thanks , yes it’s a lot of pressure to find a long term gig . I am out of all people hate change and want to stay long in a role .

Move on if there is something better. It doesn’t sound like a good place to work. People understand a short tenure due to crap environment / misleading sell at interview as long as you don’t do it all the time.

I moved on after 6 months before staying for two years in my previous job. Is that going to look bad if I leave current role in 6 months ?
