What age did you do it? Were the mood swings really as bad as people say?

Did you pay out of pocket? And how many rounds did it take for you?

Insurance covered most! But had to pay out of pocket for a couple thousands (<4K) and only 1 round!

Wow, that's awesome! Doing it early for less rounds is definitely worth it. Congrats :)

Does egg freezing have the same probability of fertility success like zygote?

is there a male equivalent to this? I’ve been considering something like the following upon my premature death “heres one million dollars if you meet xyz characteristics and give birth to a kid using my sperm.”

      @indeed you mean sperm donations?

I guess sperm freezing + picking the sperm user based on predefined characteristics. unless thats already a thing

Yes that's a thing, but it doesn't seem popular. Probably a good idea though, birth defect chances go up as men get older too.

And what is the procedure? Do they put you on anesthetic? Does it hurt?

Scary bc 1. You have to self inject 3 different medications every night for 2 weeks 2. You will be fully sedated when they extract the eggs 3. You body will also change a lot during the time (very uncomfortably bloated)
      Jul 3
    • Snapchat Playette
      OP
But in reality 1. Using needles/self injection is very easy 2. You don’t feel anything during the surgery cuz you are fully sedated 3. bloating is the worst part of the entire thing, but if you do it in the winter, no one sees anything! :)

Yeah, I hate needles. And have to do it everyday is scary. Glad you are done... and good luck!!

I did it twice and it was the best decision I ever made. I got a low count the first time which is why I did it again. Praying those eggs last into my 40s

It takes two to tango and I’m not interested in getting a sperm donor, gotta find the right partner. I’m 38 now :)

What’s the viability timeline like these days? A couple of years ago , when I inquired, I was told that chances of pregnancy are almost nil after the fifth year of freezing.

Doctors told me they technically last forever. The first doctor that I consulted said one of his clients was able to use the eggs after 7 yrs.

Is the process complicated and long drawn ?
Does it need an operation ? Where they need to sedate you ?
More information on what a “cycle” is will help !
    Jul 3 3
    • Snapchat Playette
      OP
The process (counting from the first injection to the actual surgery) lasts about 2 weeks. But it takes another 2 weeks to fully recover and feel normal again. Cycle = period cycle = one surgery. You can only withdraw as many eggs you have within your normal period cycle. And after that, if you don’t have enough, you will have to wait for the next normal period to start in order to begin your next cycle. Hope this makes sense. Yes they fully sedates you for the operation.

Is the surgery done by laparoscopy ? It’s a very minor surgery ?

Late 20’s. I’m in a relationship, but I don’t ever want to be that woman that pressures the guy to marry bc I have a “timeline”, and what if this guy doesn’t work out? Another reason is I have so many high priorities in my life right now, and I want to delay my plan to build a family. I could use these eggs for my 2nd/3rd child too!

thats awesome you sound like a smart and very accommodating person. I guess egg freezing alleviates some of the concerns with women hitting 30yo.

      OP
Well with that being said, I think it’s also considerate for men to help fund their long term girlfriend’s egg freezing procedure because by delaying the process, the men have effectively taken out a chance from the women to build a family if they end up breaking up

thats a more complicated situation and really changes the dynamic of the landscape as youre well aware, playette. I’d have to evaluate the situation with the clear downside being that she could screw me over, divorce me, take all my money, and be impregnated by another male thereby cucking me at my old age with no recourse to having my own offspring.

LOL it honestly doesn’t make sense to me because why would anyone be in a LONG term relationship with such a toxic partner? The scenario I described above is dedicated to couples that have been dating a long time, trust and truly love each other but haven’t decided to marry yet! Also, what if you do decide to marry her when you both get older, IVF at a later age is very costly!

The info you provided is really helpful, thank you. I do have one kid but I want to freeze my egg if I ever want a second one. Also respect you for not pressuring the guy to have a kid because of biological clock.

Did you have to take Lupron? Which medications did you use/take? How many rounds did you do, and how many total eggs did you get and freeze?
