Planning to start a family and am thinking of going with Kaiser. Other option that I could use is Aetna. I live on the Eastside but do not mind commuting to Seattle if the hospitals and care are better. Anyone having positive experience with Kaiser in Washington state? Thanks, TC - 170k
I have heard atena is cheaper
How so? I thought Kaiser was cheaper as there is only a $20 copay for every visit.
Aetna PPO is most ideal often for sheer number of choices available. I'd recommend Swedish Issaquah or any Swedish
Do you have an estimate on the cost for maternity services from swedish?
That would depend on your specific plan with Aetna (assuming Swedish is in network naturally). A few thousand would be ballpark out of pocket; basically expect to max your deductible and (if you have a good plan) even hit your out of pocket annual Maximum. This assumes you don't choose a High Deductible Plan, which would be horrible since you're going in knowing you'll be using a lot of healthcare. HDHP's are best for only the healthiest, least frequent users of healthcare to protect against catastrophic injury.
Kaiser is nice because you just go to Kaiser. I've had nothing but positive experiences. It was easy to find a primary care physician on short notice. When I needed specialists that was quick too Down side of kaiser is when I got such out of state. Kaiser is not in a lot of places Aetna has more choices but that requires you to do more research and planning. I was not able to find a primary care physician on short notice. Their nurse hotline wasn't as helpful
Kaiser is really good. I had my wife’s cough cured in 2 days after getting right antibiotics from Kaiser doctors
Thanks! Good to know. Is this for kaiser on Eastside. I have looked up other threads and found Kaiser is excellent in bay area. But I am unsure about the ones in seattle/bellevue/redmond areas.
Kaiser is great. Everything you may need is generally at one location. Easy to switch to your primary care physician. Lots of tech to have video calls or get a question answered in a couple hours on message or chat with your PCP. Also very low out of pocket costs, depending on your plan. Also you have one medical record that can be accessed from any facility or by any doctor.

Been using Kaiser in the bay for several years. Generally no complaints, but occasionally appts can take weeks to book.
