A Google recruiter has reached out last December but I kept postponing the interview date. I am not ready as preparation goes. Also I am expecting a title change to sde2 in September but not 100% sure. How to gracefully tell them I need to postpone again?
Uhh, they’ve moved on.
Google is always hiring.
I’ve done this. They don’t care. They keep emailing me back asking if I’d like to have a chat with them like 6 months later. I figure it’s better than bombing the interview.
I did this. They waited a year and a half. They still talk to me all the time
I postponed onsite multiple times over 3 years. I ended up having to phone screen again when I decided to move forward
Yeah this. I made it to my onsite and HC last time (3 yrs ago by now), but even though I haven’t proceeded with next steps yet, my recruiter told me in my most recent “chat” that I would have to go through a phone screen. Was mortified about bombing because I heard there was a “3 strikes and you’re out” policy

Worried that our top performer is an attrition risk. How do managers handle this?
You’ll never be “prepared” Simply bite the bullet. Just do it.
This. Also no need to wait on promo, you'll get more in new gig anyway.
