11 offers to laid off[UPDATE]: 5 offers
I have been applying to almost every company since December for a new grad full time software Engineer postion but I'm not sure why I don't get a call. Through blind I got some calls at good companies and was able to go onsite for them but in the end got feedback like we need some more experience person. I have one offer from no name company and that's it. I have been leetcoding since February and thought I would get atleast a decent company after I graduate with a masters degree but looks like that's not gonna happen. I still have 25 days before I join that company and kind of gave up right now as I don't have any ongoing calls. It would be great if someone is still hiring in their team and can refer me, any company on west coast would be fine but I don't wanna get stuck with my no name company. Hope someone can help me. Thanks!! Leets - 300
You need referrals. Thousands of people apply to big companies, no way recruiters can sift through all of the applications. The best way to stick out is via referral.

I am an international student and don't have any contacts in Tech industry. That's why my only hope is getting a referral from Blind.
Ping me if you have not interviewed with Amazon
This is the only company which I actually Got a call just after applying online, in the end got rejected for to LP as I answered the technical question well with optimal approach. Thanks though.
No worries. All the best.
You went to some onsite interviews. What did they ask? What went wrong?
From my side, nothing went wrong. I answered all their LC and in the end got feedback from one company that manager is looking some senior fellow. Then y in the first place you invited me onsite, can't you even check my Resume before. So much time got wasted. In other company, they came back saying that postion is filled internally sorry. Another company said that while your technical skills are good but are not a match of what we're looking right now. I now have no idea what to do. I just think that it's all my bad luck.
Those sounded like euphemisms and excuses from the companies. If your leetcode is fine, then you need to brush up on your system design and architecture. A lot of the times in an interview, the interviewers are not looking for a perfect solution, but instead want to see how you communicate with them. Do not jump into solving the problem immediately. First clarify the interview question, ask if you have doubts. Identify as many edge cases as possible, and write them down. Then speak up about the ideas you have in your mind. The interviewer will give you hints if you have gone off the wrong direction. Only when you and the interviewer have agreed on a solution, then start writing the code. I've seen many people make mistake of writing code before even having a clear picture. Finally, the bigO stuff. This is the same for system design. Ask many questions to narrow the scope. Explain each step you write on the board. If the interviewer challenges you, then think if their question is valid. Often interviewers challenge you just to see if you know what you are doing. There is no perfect solution. Do NOT give up and say you don't know. Just slow down and think. Rather discuss with your interviewer than throw in the white towel. Since you are a grad, they will only expect the basics architecture stuff, like master-slave, load balancer, read heavy vs write heavy. Watch how other people do mock up interviews. Plenty on YouTube.
Use employee referrals. Randos on LinkedIn or Blind will refer you if you ask. Entry level is so competitive that this is just the way things are now.
Yeah initial getting a foot in Industry is so difficult. Yes I keep asking about referrals and help but not much people volunteer to do that. Some just take info and don't reply after that but it's still better than nothing. Atleast I got some calls through blind.
I think it may be easier on LinkedIn bc it’s more personal. You can also message recruiters from companies you like on LinkedIn. Just carry on and do not become discouraged.
If anyone dmed me on my above handle, please do it on this one as the above handle got blocked by blind, another sign of bad luck 😅
