They should consider making water pipes... Because their products don't leak! ;-)

Have to agree. The announcement today was awesome

Gen!x XPbr65 OP Sep 20, 2017

Not just the announcement’s, the strategy, the design, the product. Nest works with your local utilities for energy rebates making it possible for me to Install Nest 3s in 20 rental units. Of course they immediately released the Nest E, but I’m not even (that) mad at them

Microsoft Blinding! Sep 20, 2017

The fuck. You have 20 rental units?

Nest = building product for google engineers. Only they can afford. 250$ for thermostat 😁

Gen!x XPbr65 OP Sep 21, 2017

They have a $169 version too

Google asdesigned Sep 22, 2017

The irony is Nest actually DOESN'T make products for Google engineers. Googlers constantly complain that there is no way to store video data in a private cloud or hard drive for Nest Cams. They want "advanced" features that only engineers would want. Nest doesn't make products for engineers, their intent is to make products for normal people (with disposable income). This is why Nest's camera offerings are solely cloud-based. And their products are beautiful and simple to use. Nest pays attention to the complete user experience, whereas engineers may nitpick specs and cram in features "normal" users don't actually want.

$499 for door sensors! I'm good with amartthings, it's cheaper and open

Gen!x XPbr65 OP Sep 22, 2017

Doesn’t look like you paid attention to what’s being sold
