Hi, I got offers from Google (L4) and Amazon (L5) for SDE position in Seattle. How much should I negotiate for? I'm thinking about 250k TC. No idea about joining stock/cash bonus. Any help is much appreciated.

What are their offers? You know better than to hold back like that on Blind.
My current numbers are 210k TC at Expedia. I don't have the new numbers from Google/Amazon. They are asking me how much I expect.
Don't answer that. Let them give you an offer and negotiate whatever they give. Don't tell them your current number either.
Definitely don't answer. The recruiters are just playing with you.
Ok. Let me ask them to make the best offer then. Thanks guys!!!
Ask 350k from both..
If you guys know the band for those levels, could you share them?
I'm a firm believer that you ask for what you want 5 years from now and let them negotiate youdown
This guy gets it
Lol thanks man, I missed out on 20k a year one time because I didn't follow this advice fully, a friend gave it to me. Ever since I've actually applied it and it works like a charm. They can always counter. You generally can find the range for a position if you play your cards right with the recruiter (or use blind lol). Then that's your base, take you current skill level you think you're worth, add 5 years experience, ask for that (should still be in range) let them figure it out!
Google can do 300k ...Amazon will top out at 230k
Sde2 hired at 260tc. Seattle
When you don't give any number and ask them to offer first, you will get their lowest possible number.
Completely true
What are your numbers
