But then he would have gotten sde1, not sde2 level

Seems L4 to me, especially for Bay Area

That's less than 160k in yr1. Pretty weak. I would ask for more sign-on, maybe base. Stocks don't come much into play until yr3

I’m an L4 hired last year with 2 years of experience. Got 120, 50, 75 and 10k relocation.

Your offer sounds like an L4

Looks like an SDE I offer, and for a new grad SDE I is appropriate.

How do you know it's L5? Sometimes college grads L4 offer even with lot of experience. Happens when their experience is not deemed equivalent to Amazon experience.

Super low SDE2 (L5) especially for the Bay Area. You should aim for at least $200k TC. Preferably $220k-$240k though. COL is the Bay Area is really high.

Is this offer for audible? Sde1 starts as L5 there and this number seems legit as a sde1

My understanding is that SDE1=L4, SDE2=L5, etc

You should know at what level you're hired for. They might be downleveling you to L5 even though you have 5yrs of experience.

I was hired 2015 and got 175 shares sign on this seems low but that was 2015 sde2 l5

This is most likely an L4 offer

Your offer is most probably for Sde1/L4. It is a good L4 offer even in Bay Area. Since you recently graduated, they probably did not consider you for L5 which is commonly the case for new grads.

Couple of years back this was the standard salary for SDE1
    Base: 110k
Sign on bonus: 44k (divided in 2 years)
    Stocks: worth of 55k
    Relocation: 10k

I think whatever you are getting irrespective of L4 or L5 is low

An L5 offer for your reference: 140k base, 85k sign on, 135 RSUs; Seattle office. Offer was granted last August when AMZN is about $950.

Even for Seattle the minimum is total compensation of 175k $ ,
So for Bay area it has to be 20% more at least
