Received an offer from Amazon for L6 Technical Program Manager but not sure how it measures up. Had interviewed for SDM. Would appreciate insights about if this is a fair offer, or suggestions for next steps: TC 194k. Breakdown: base 135, sign-on 54 y1/40 y2, 68 RSUs with standard Amazon backloaded vesting. 15 YOE, coming from several years in a unicorn startup as M2 software engineering manager.
Definitely a low ball offer.
I am L5 and I make 200k
Ask for at least 250k I'm L5 tpm. Offer TC 320k (2017)
You got 320 in 2017 as L5 TPM? YOE? Did you have competing offers or previous FANGish experience?
15 yoe (8 as a swe). Competing offer from FB. No previous FANG experience.
They claim this is a final offer and 194k is top of band for L6 TPM. I had asked for higher in earlier discussions but they still came back with this. Suggestions for next step? Has anyone successfully negotiated after a "final offer"?
It’s definitely not near the top of band for L6 TPM. Are you sure this is an L6 role, and that they’re offering TPM (as opposed to program manager)?
@amazons yes, 100% sure L6 Sr TPM. I confirmed at each step as well as via email after receiving offer.
What's your current TC?
Current TC is mid 100's base plus a lot of startup stock. Prefer not to be specific on stock to stay anon but I was very early (pre-series A) hire. Startup is now post-series D.
That is the standard L6 TPM offer. Don't listen to people here, they have inflated RSUs and have lost context. It's definitely not top of the band for L6 (it tops out ~235k)
Appreciate the input. Is the top of band you quote for L6 TPM or just L6 in general?
TPM
Underpaid. SDMs are paid much higher. I am L5 SDE getting over 240k.
