I am expecting to get promoted to L67 this mid year, as told by mgr and skip. But looking to switch. TC is 400k @azure. What will be good move? Money and work wise? How much can I reasonably expect.
IC No interviews yet, haven’t done any interviews in last 15yrs so don’t know where I stand
If you get to L67, you are already pretty close to the comp you will get in another company. If you like the job, stay and continue to grow rather than finding another job and proving yourself over and over.
Lol... do you have any experience outside of Microsoft or are those 15 years from college grad to now?
If you can crack Google or FB, you will be swimming in $$$ At Google or FB, you will be: L6/E6 = you can hit ~$600k I suggest start preparing well soon as it will take sometime. Also may want you consider the jump to L67 if you are close and then switch.
L6 isn't 600k. Don't be silly. 400k for a 66 is pretty damn good to begin with.
Joining FB E5 with $400k TC (with sign on). I can see hitting $400k with yearly bonus + stock refresh + stock appreciation from 2nd year. Also had L5 offer from Google which was slightly lower.
Is levels.fyi not correct? It says 67 is e7/t7 equivalent. Why are you guys suggesting e5/e6?
I assume that is hard, you guys were being gentle to old fart:)
you’re much more experienced than I am OP, if you don’t mind, why do you want to switch besides comp concerns?
Money, change of scenery, getting out of comfort zone, learning what others are doing,
Also surprised no one mentioned Amazon and BMC? Are they so bad?
Tc of 400 seems low for l66?
Thanks much for answering I guess all these will become relevant when & if I can clear the interviews. I hope to try at the big 4-5 companies. Will see what can I do. Will let you guys know :) Meanwhile if any pointers on interview prep, please pass them along. Thanks.

Depends upon what offer you can get in other companies. Are you actively interviewing, do you have any offer? Are you an IC or manager?
