Laptop Choices @ Oracle?
What laptop choices are available to new hires @ Oracle? Cloud Apps Product Org if it matters...
You would be lucky to get a 2006 Gateway or eMachines computer, or maybe DCM Tandy
It used to be Lenovo or Toshiba, but these days MacBooks are available. The condition is that you will not be eligible for upgrade before 4 years, as opposed to the usual 3.
At least in OCI you are given a option (laptop). The manager picks for you, however, he/she should ask what is your preference. I have a Mac but people on my team have both. For desktop it’s Linux (Oracle) or windows.
Windows options for PMs and Managers if they want. MBP for all dev roles.
Put in a request to your manager what you need. If not you’ll get a Toshiba windows laptop and it’s a hell to get changed. Happened to me. My manager selected pc for me when I was hired and I had to get hell lot of approvals to get it changed.

Everyone uses macbooks. There is some Windows laptop option too.
Are you given MBP by default when joining?
I don’t remember which one is the default. It’s been a while. I think when I joined the default was a Dell desktop. Maybe still is.
