Gave 2 weeks notice and tried to schedule some PTO the last week as the company doesn't pay out. Was told by CTO this last Friday that I couldn't take any. Seeing what blind thinks on the issue. Local = Midwest

You honestly should have taken your PTO days before putting in your two weeks but hindsight is 20/20. Just post on Blind all day and get paid for it.
What’s the point of even taking PTO if you put in your 2w? The whole point of notice is for you to be available to help transition knowledge and responsibilities to someone else while the company finds a replacement. You can’t really do any of that while taking PTO. If I were a manager and someone gave notice then went on vacation during that 2w it wouldn’t be any different from them just quitting on the spot.
I normally dont but I have always been paid out. PTO is part of my TC so it's basically my money (IMO). Guess I view my relationship with a buisness as I dont owe them anything besides to show up and do work, while your other points seems to belay a deeper bond between employee and employer.
Why sacrifice 2 week pay? show up and do nothing.

Ask them for performance incentives. “If you want me to accomplish X before My last day, you need to give an incremental $Y if I achieve it”. If they won’t do it, that means the work is not that important. The 2 weeks after giving notice should be for transitioning work to your successor and for using up vacation that won’t get paid out. If they want you to do something more than that, they need to give you an incentive. It’s your right to use paid time off that you have earned. You are not legally required to give advance notice when resigning. You are doing them a favor by giving 2 weeks notice.
Why bend over backwards for a company that doesn't give a shit about you anyway. Do the bare minimum (not saying slack off), fulfill the obligations of your contract but don't stay up too late, that's the professional thing to do.
It was kinda your fault for not taking the pto before you gave your 2 week notice.
After all the hard work you’ve presumably already put in with this job, why end on a low note by either quitting w/o 2w notice or slacking off? You’re only 2w out, give it your all and leave a good impression! Edit: OP, be careful. The people voting in this poll don’t have your best interest in mind and probably would never do the things their suggesting if they were in your position. They’re just fantasizing.
The choice is between giving the finger versus doing the needful. Some might prefer the former out of raw bitterness. Management is not treating OP well, and it doesn't sound like they'd ever want to return.
Yeah but it just seems self destructive. Always take the high road, it’s a small world.
