Tc:400k. (with stock app.) exp: 12, 4 at Apple, mid 30s Offrr from a tier 1.5 company for similar TC. Don’t see much scope of learning new things in the new job. Not learning in current job too. Take the new job or rest & vest ?
The other option seems to have no change. Rest and Vest!
Fast forward to the future: You're old (hopefully) and on your deathbed. You think back to your current point in life.. what would the old and dying you have hoped you would do? Stay at one miserable job, or join another boring job.... Life's short. Maybe consider a third option
I'm reading these questions and replies at 2:23 am. Damn!
4:24 for me 🥴
Lol
Will new company have better WLB than Apple?
New job is most often a good to go in the long run. You'll get to work with new people and stuff which sheds light on things you may have not learnt about.
Is it possible to transition to a new role with a different team right where you are? Opportunities to take on some new responsibilities that *would* challenge you more and help you grow out of this slump? Have you discussed this with your manager? Or HR? Surely there must be *some* other options for you at Apple - and they have a much more vested interest in keeping you on board, and happy, than any other company would. Vesting is no small matter financially for you, either, and you would just be starting that whole process all over again from scratch if you jump. There are obviously no guarantees in life, but there is every reason to believe that Apple will still be around and going strong throughout the rest of your career, and that you’d have work available there the whole time. Can you say the same about the prospective new company? And when *will*!you vest? One year? Five? Ten? What would it be at the new company? Do you have a family, or want to have one? You’ve got many likely working years ahead, but you are also rapidly approaching an age where age alone may well significantly limit your ability to find a new job if you need to. Believe me, age discrimination is alive and well. Just some things to think about, since clearly the new has appeal as well, for perfectly valid reasons.
Rest and vest...give some quality time to family.
Rest and vest why not,right?
Things can go south anytime, why not be prepared?
True but probably with that income having a 6month emergency fund should be easy to achieve
Is the risk of jumping ship to somewhere else where you may have the exact same experience worth it? There seems to be no change other than you don’t know your potential new colleagues to know if you’ll like them or not.
