I want to share my experience in the hope that it will help even just one of you to take the plunge. I enjoyed my previous role a lot. Scope, team, company. But I really didnt get along with my boss. I was worried that if I changed role I might have found a better boss but maybe a bad team or boring role, etc. So I lingered in a shitty job for way too long. But eventually I took the right decision and I changed job. One year later I got a salary increase, got promoted and I really feel appreciated by my boss. Life is too short to deal with a shitty boss guys! tc 200k
Left shitty boss earlier this year, best decision ever
There are studies and HBR articles about this. The top reason people job change today is compensation. Number 2 is manager. The top factor in eNPS and long term eX studies? Manager. I too have changed roles over a bad manager before, I have also left a role because of poor leadership ethics. Absolutely, you need to be in a healthy place for the right reason.
Sorry what does "e" stand for? What is eX?
eNPS = Employee Net Promoter Score. Usually calculated by HR and recruiting based on an annual or periodic “pulse” survey. Gives a number which reflects employee overall willingness to recommend the company as a place to work. eX = Employee Experience. Usually managed by hr plus the CIO in establishing the model and tools used by the organization to create employee lifecycles.
The stories about how your boss responded when you quit (if there was emotion / bewilderment / etc) are the most fun. Sometimes toxic bosses are just clueless and go into CYA mode. "What? You want to quit??? Are you sure? You were doing awesome work and your promotion was just about to happen!" "Riiiiiiight, and I have a bridge in New York that I want to sell you."
My boss said he can help me quit . I said thank you so much . I can send my own email to hr about quitting
Do you think that your boss was trying to delay you leaving or something else? Your response to your boss is amusing. 😂
No I offered to quit in Jan he made me to wait with promise of promotion which never came when I asked him again that was his response. This is sick attitude and reflects badly not on my part ( they are willing to offer something to someone from outside but look down on ppl who worked for them). Technically they made most of my immigration (green card i140 compulsion) should have walked away year ago but sometime we make mistakes
when toxic managers take hold and HRs do not listen to grassroots. That is how a company rotted and destroyed.
I left a tech job because my manager was a complete asshole. Imagine this. Another manager wanted to recuit me to his team, but manager opposed and start eating shit that I would leave his team and join anothers team. Now thats some major bullshit!
Thanks on same boat as you. Forced to quit it’s better to walk out with honor than live humiliation everyday
Just know that there is a piace out there with someone who appreciates you and values your experience :) good luck!
