Been at Amazon 2.5 years. L7. No near to mid term growth prospects. If I can get a level up / step up at FB or Twitter, would it make sense to jump ship given poor earnings performance and issues facing these companies? Looking for growth but also stability (want options to be able to switch roles and also grow). Amazon provides first for sure, but growth is only in monetary terms for me and not otherwise. If I get better starting compensation and a level up at F or T, should I leave A? Assume A’s stock will keep appreciating and we are unsure of F and T. Business role.
This guy is not principal engineer for sure.
Never claimed to be a PE! 😂
no, those two companies are too bad, unless Zuck or Jack givea you their position, don't come.
As an L7, you have a lot of cool BD /sales options. AMG, Alexa, AWS, B2B etc. with twitter and Facebook it’s only ads.
Not true. FB is also Workplace and data/measurement/marketing partnerships. All of these are small teams with upside. OP- In your place I’d work on Workplace. Extremely compelling b2b employee efficiency product
For sales and BD folks? Are these even externally facing?
Same boat here as OP
Don’t expect to get a step up at FB. They might step u down as L8 is a director at FB and sorry to say but Amazon L7 do not map to L7 FB let alone L8 FB unless u are a super rock star.
@FAANGStar, can you please list your TC in terms of Base/Bonus/Stock please, or send in DM if you prefer that? I have negotiations happening at same level and want to get an idea.
You have lasted 2.5 why leave now? Don’t you hit you 40% stock grant at 3 years? After that then I would leave.
Will complete 2.5 years this Sep where I get 20 per cent stock, have to stay till March to get the remaining 20 per cent stock. No growth prospects in role or responsibility and they don’t give you visibility with partners. Micro managing boss. Horrid team. FB and Twitter have good roles open where I feel I have a shot at lateral move or level up. My only worry is stability and mid term prospects at these companies vs Amazon. The only good thing about Amazon is that we are managing 40 percent YOY comp growth at a min due to stock appreciation
Makes sense, if you are looking for a better culture then Facebook or Twitter beat Amazon. What are of business are you looking for? Operations is what we are growing the most on so it has tremendous growth opportunity if you get in now.
Why only F and T ? Did you list them just to comment on the earnings ?
