Leaving company

I am declining offer of startup. It’s written in offer letter that I have to pay VISA related fees as penalty as they have already applied for it. Do you know how much I can expect to pay for h1b visa application penalties.

Visa charges may be around 4K if it’s premium processing

Facebook h57hj May 18, 2019

And also company should not ask for visa expenses. It’s company expense and candidate should not pay. But if they spent money on something else like relocation money or signon bonus, you might be liable to pay back.

Depends if they’ve already filed or not, but you’ll have to pay the attorney fee which can be somewhere around $2000, maybe more depending on the firm

This is illegal.

Yeah I think its illegal to ask for visa transfer fee

The company can always charge you fot the attorney fees as this is not covered in the law that they cannot. Also, they can also charge you for the PP fees, since the USCIS site does not strictly define who the actual beneficiary is

Intel GOTNOGOT OP May 19, 2019

What is PP? Do you know how much I might have to pay? Trying to get approximation to be prepared

Epsilon ySPg80 May 19, 2019

PP - premium processig. Company is liable to pay the filing fees only. Anything other than that, might have to be paid by the individual if the company insists. I have heard people paying around 2k .

Do you mind sharing the company name,? Just wondering why you are hiding the company name? Never heard about this. Cannot believe these days who is saying the truth. PP and lawyer fees

Intel GOTNOGOT OP May 19, 2019

Appropriate cost? Just trying to get numbers so that I can be prepared

Why not share the company name so that we all can avoid it.

Accenture bindok May 18, 2019

Tell them that you are reporting it to USCIS and enjoy the show!

So OP looks like it was mentioned in the offer letter and you accepted it and you signed it and they started processing your visa and then you withdraw. if this is the case you need to pay. there's nothing wrong what the company's doing. It's you who is the withdrawing from the agreement not the company. You can say whatever you want to say but in the end I'm sure it's all legal what they're doing. OP what exactly do you mean by I'm declining the offer? Looks like you already accepted the offer and they started processing your visa and now you are backing out?
