I just got my green card a month ago. Is it safe to quit my job within 2-5 months after getting it? Anyone done that before? Any words of advice?
Why not? You can switch jobs even before you get the green card based on AC21 portability rule. It is the law! Green card means you are officially a permanent resident without conditions.
There was a recent post where a person claimed that their immigration officer was giving them trouble because they switched jobs as soon as 6 months pass after getting a gc
[Blind] Check out this post! Don’t change employer too quickly after GC (Work VISA) https://us.teamblind.com/s/CkBPKF8P
I bet it was corporate America lobbying and writing random shit..it does not make any sense that you have a gc and get into problems for leaving employer
Right, so I heard rumors that you might want to wait at least 6 months. Technically you could quit the day after. However, if you plan to apply for naturalization that might back fire.
