Had a phone screen interview through Karat.io, a third party company that handles interviews for other companies. For the second time they give me leetcode hard. Wtf?! Are they all nuts? Edit: applied to a non-FAANG company
Did the code have to run and get correct solution during phone interview? Or was it whiteboard coding?
It's a coderpad session, in which you need to pass their test cases.
Interviewed with Pinterest before, screening by Karat He asked Basic calculator i ii iii
Did you have to implement all three? Basic calculator is leetcode hard :)
He stared with the easier one and kept adding requirements. I was only able to go half way at the last one. But I passed the screening
I am not surprised. Leetcode hard is very common now. Even in phone screens.
Had similar experience with Pinterest phone screen. That LC hard was a combo of dp-dfs. Couldn't finish it time.
No on-site?
Apparently, no onsite.
Recently got assigned a timed HackerRank challenge which turned out to be a LeetCode hard by a local no name company. Had to take it on my own, not on the phone, so couldn't ask questions, couldn't get real-time feedback, and even better that shitty site had incorrect instructions for the problem too. Afterwards the only feedback they passed back was "why didn't you finish" after me figuring out most optimal algorithm but failing to get code fully working in only 45 minutes. Screw that place and their bad recruiting process.
what company?
I think karat interviewers are bat poop crazy. Asked me to do text justification with just 20 minutes left in the interview.

Dating for Marriage is Hard
Third party company for interviews? That's a thing?
Yes it is. Similar to getting hacker rank code challenges
I am assuming it's just for the initial phone tech screen?
