Leetcode bar for companies

I am preparing for interviews and wanted to get some idea as where do I stand. So will appreciate if someone could clarify leetcode bar for different companies.
I am measuring it in time required to solve different complexity leetcode problems and I am dividing companies in different categories
Like,
Category0(Airbnb, netflix etc).: Hard 30m, medium: 15mins, No easy asked.

Category1(Google, Facebook, Uber etc): hard 45mins, medium 25mins, no easy asked

Category2(LinkedIn, Apple, Amazon etc): no hard, medium 30mins, Easy 10mins.

Category3(salesforce, Walmart labs etc): no hard, 40mins medium, 20mins easy.

Suggest if you do not agree with my categorization.

[Note - this is what I think but I am looking for feedback from candidates who have actually interviewed there.]

Why Airbnb is so hard, I think FANG should be the hardest ones

My problem with coding tests is that its based on calculus, which I kinda failed, or I get nervous, fall asleep or freeze up 😂

The last test I fell asleep in I did really well tho... 🤔

It’s a linear function. Do it on a piece of a paper. Human can do it in lineae time with an increasing effort by a factor 44n. The smartest man/woman in the world can do it in an absolute O(1) time, approximately 2.89198 seconds for a F(29980)

Perhaps I misunderstood your answer but are you saying Fibonacci is a linear function? And can be solved in O(1)?

From what I know, Fibonacci recursive solution’s time complexity is O(1.62^n). You won’t get it without quite some calculus background knowledge.

Of course you can solve it in linear time. I have already given you a humanistic answer.

I recently interviewed with FB and got offer. Each round of interview consists of one easy and one medium. So speed is more important. Need to finish easy within 10-15 minutes then medium within 15-20 minutes.

    • Google girlcoder
Dude nobody told me what speed to use but isn't it obvious you need to get the easy one done asap so you have to to solve the second question?
      Jul 16, 2018
    • Facebook jimdaw
No. They didn't tell you you had to finish the second question either, right? I'm guessing you just assumed that two questions is a requirement because they asked you two questions.

Have you gone through interview training at Google?
      Jul 16, 2018
    • Google girlcoder
      What's your point.
      Jul 16, 2018
    • Facebook jimdaw
There isn't a set number of questions you have to answer, or a time limit on each one. An interview isn't a quiz. You can get a hire vote without finishing a 2nd question or even starting it, if the interviewer is confident of your coding ability.

From what I know, Google's coding interviews work the same way, so I was asking if you'd been trained on that.

I was merely speaking from my (and a few friends') experience. Of course an interviewer can ask just one question with follow ups. One variant I saw is to ask interviewee to implement two functions on the same problem, one based on the output of the other.

Netflix doesn’t even ask leetcode questions. How did you come up with this categorization? Did you interview at all of these companies? Or just making guesses on Blind?
    Jul 14, 2018 7
    • LinkedIn one dude
@Zynga, what I’m saying is they don’t ask that type of questions.

      Jul 14, 2018
    • LinkedIn one dude
Yeah you may get one here and there. Also, each team has their own interview process, so there might be teams doing leetcode.

But in general, leetcode isn’t in Netflix’s DNA like fb/g and others.

So tell us what kind of algorithm questions they ask that don’t resemble any leetcode questions? I find that hard to believe... they ask how to write a search engine that would reduce by a factor 0.34log(log(log n))?

So my ranking would be something like this in decreasing order of difficulty as you go down:

    Airbnb, Uber,
    Google, Netflix, Fb, Amazon
    Apple, LinkedIn, Walmart

Though the above ranking has nothing to TC.

I hope you know that Leetcode is only 1 or 2 rounds max in each company ie if they decide to give you questions from it, at all

You are again missing the point, I am not expecting questions to repeat, I am just trying to measure the difficulty in terms of leetcode difficulty level, as coding questions are going to be algo and ds based. Let's keep system design out of this for now

The list I posted above is ranked by leetcode difficulty. For time, you can just add Fb to the top line with Airbnb and uber as these companies look for optimized solutions and speed of solving the the given problems
