Would 3 months of daily leetcoding be enough to crack faang interviews, in time for new grad interviews for a December graduation ? I have 3 hours each weekday and 5 each Sat/sun set aside for strictly leetcode. And obviously it’s more about how you spend that time. For me, I’ve been trying each problem, figuring out where the gaps in my knowledge are, researching that topic and then archiving that problem to attempt in a few days so the learning can be reinforced and I’m understanding patterns/concepts rather than memorizing solutions. For background, I’m a math major w/ CS minor. I also have EPI, CTCI, and interviewcake which I’ll work through by then. Appreciate all the advice!
Should be enough. Be strategic, like focusing on a specific topic in each session, don't stuck on one question, look at discussion but code it yourself, bookmark it and come back 1 week later.
that’s awesome advice, I really appreciate it
I would use the time to work through a proper algorithms and data structures textbook. Some of these have “interview question” sections. Whether or not your timeline is realistic depends on how much you know now and what your aptitude for CS is like.
appreciate the insight. I have a ds&a book called data structures and algorithms made easy but that might not fit the mold of a proper textbook ... do you have any recommendations?
CLRS, Sciena (sp?), Sedgwick. There are courses on Algorithms on Coursera etc too.
You will be solid if you actually manage to go through ALL of EPI, CTCI, interviewcake. That’s a lot.
that’s good to hear. I am working through CTCI now and it’s been good, I’ve heard EPI is a lot tougher so I’m saving that for a month before interviews
I definitely think EPI is better. CTCI has really good content to learn and then follow up questions but I find the answers not as detailed and many of the questions far easier than what FAANG would expect. It’s worth reading CTCI and then doing some of the problems still but I find EPI far more superior in terms of quality of answers.
CTCI and some leetcode is good. 3 months is plenty of time for new grad interviews
good to know, appreciate it !
3 months is great time
that’s great to hear, appreciate your time
Anecdotally, my co-workers and myself (who jumped from the same company to Google) only studied for 3 weeks. And I'm a pretty mediocre engineer. And I mean that in an encouraging way. Spending 3 months actually studying (3 hours a day is massive) will be more than enough for you to nail the interviews!
That's awesome! What all did you study?
damn this person is my hero ha...I really appreciate the encouragement ! and I’m sure you’re a great engineer lol
It is not the number of problems or number of days. It is about bridging the gap between your current skill and interviewers' expectation. When you can solve LeetCode mediums comfortably in 20-30 minutes you can start interviewing. I've seen people who solved 400+ LeetCode and still failed and people who decided to interview one fine morning and got a new job in couple of months.
that’s some really great insight... thank you!

No unless you really want to die. Give yourself 6. My two cents.
is it the hours each day that isn’t enough? Or you think 3 months just isn’t enough time ? Because for a December grad I think you have to start interviewing by September . Thanks for your input btw
This smells sarcastic btw
