Left Amazon following high performance and title upgrade, no comp adjustment
I was pretty disappointed with Amazon's HR process. When I started I was offered a Web Development Engineer II and Software Development Engineer II position within AWS because I am a software engineer with focus on the front end, I chose WDE because it was likely I'd likely only have limited opportunities to work on front end applications.
I recently transitioned to the new Front End Engineer II role after pushing for it for months with my checked-out manager. I was a major contributor on a console and had launched some major features as primary contributor, and was the lead dev on another console yet to be released.
Despite my contributions making my team exceed our yearly goals while also launching a new console, and receiving a new title with a completely different payscale, at my performance review I was told I would only be receiving a 1.2% inflation increase in my pay because of "frugality".
I took a remote lead engineer position at a startup and haven't been happier
