Liberal Unions just killed Uber and Lyft in California 🤦🏻‍♂️

Nancy's nephew, Gavin Newsom will sign this AB5 bill to destory the gig economy. Serious question.. why do people vote for these liberal Democrat policies? Its soooooo bad for Innovation. Only the rich elites will be able to afford an uber on CA now 🤦🏻‍♂️

Only the rich and upper middle class use Uber already! Regular people have their own used car and live in the suburbs or take the bus.

Crappy law. Fortunately the democrats lost their power on last elections, but still manage to shit.

Facebook irqL16 Sep 11, 2019

Gig economy = low paying jobs, no job security, no insurance or other benefits. And no responsibility for the company, so that when an Uber driver runs over a pedestrian Uber says not my fault they have their own insurance. Is that the world we want to live in?

Facebook irqL16 Sep 11, 2019

Also just fuck Uber

Walmart Fock34 OP Sep 11, 2019

🤣 Uber lost $1.8 billion in 2018.. and you want them to give medical to people that might drive a couple of hours a week... lol

Microsoft Vbsm66 Sep 11, 2019

What OP doesn't understand is that if Uber/Lyft doesn't provide employee benefits such as health insurance, when something bad happens, the state foots the bill through social safety nets. It's much better to put this responsibility on the corporations, they don't need our subsidies anymore.

Meetup svk837 Sep 11, 2019

We can either A: fund the safety nets for everyone, for real, and quit pretending that everyone is going to get these things through their jobs B: force all employers to provide these things through jobs and find ways to make sure everyone is employed But you can't not fund the safety nets assuming employers will take care of it and also not make sure employers take care of it. Which is what we've been doing

This is very similar to when liberal leaders in new York raised hourly wage for service staff... most restaurants reduced people's hours and no provide a more stress environment and lower customer service... plain dumb short term thinking

Target shipoit Sep 11, 2019

Sure smart arse.

Microsoft Vbsm66 Sep 11, 2019

Is that really such a bad thing? It served it's purpose, people in the service industry can now earn the same amount with fewer hours. Generally service industry folks need to work multiple jobs (far exceeding 40hrs/week) so this clearly helps them out.

Apple MClayton Sep 11, 2019

So are these folks actually going to be Uber employees now? Many Uber drivers aren't authorized to legally work in the country so I'm not sure how that's gonna pan out.

Walmart Fock34 OP Sep 11, 2019

Lol California is screwed

Apple TimCuckold Sep 11, 2019

lol keep voting for dems until you all out of jobs

OpenTable Meliodas Sep 11, 2019

Circumventing labor laws is not innovation. AB5 merely codifies what the state Supreme Court has already ruled. Innovation is figuring out how to be a middle man on <1% of the transaction.

LinkedIn hct Sep 11, 2019

Driving for Uber/ Lyft/ any other gig economy is not nor was ever meant to be full time. Their ad campaign is side hustle, if you want full pay and benefits get a real full time job

OpenTable Meliodas Sep 11, 2019

Nothing prevents them from capping the amount of hours a driver can drive per week to match their ad campaigns.

LinkedIn hct Sep 11, 2019

Yes, because how can they set a number of hours? Some people put a couple hours into a side gig some but in more, they give freedom to earn as much as you want while also making it clear that it is not a full time thing so no benefits

Meetup svk837 Sep 11, 2019

>Only the rich elites will be able to afford an uber on CA now Imagine how many people could use Uber if drivers didn't get paid at all? If you really care about the most people getting to use Uber, then you will support my plan of not paying drivers at all.
